About WeFixTech

wefixtech.co.uk has been on the internet since 2004. In its first life it was a small British outfit doing what its name says — fixing tech: web hosting, website design and computer repair, with a support desk and a shared-hosting server full of customers' personal sites.

Along the way it did a couple of quietly useful things for the wider community. For a few years it ran mirror1.wefixtech.co.uk, a public mirror of the Linux Documentation Project and of the PuTTY website, serving HOWTOs and SSH clients to people all over the world. And one of its residents wrote a set of MySQL tutorials that ended up linked from database forums everywhere — you'll find them rewritten and brought up to date in our SQL Help archive.

Like a lot of small hosting shops, the original business wound down around the end of the decade, and the domain spent years parked. We've brought it back with a purpose that stays true to its roots: practical guides to Linux, web hosting and self-hosting, written in plain English for people who like running their own things.
